After a short poll among the friends, some coffee and reading some critics, I answered the question: Why are not popular the documentary films? The first reason is the lack of interest. After a hard day work, people choose the fresh new episode of their favourite tv-show or a lame comedy than a documentary. It is reasonable because no one likes watching shocking pictures or young, successful and very rich people. The second reason is that not many of us has good access to the newest and the best documentaries. If someone has no Internet he has no possible way to order a good Ken Burton (he is a famous person in the documentary scene) movie or watch something online. And this is the main cause, I think.

But also important reason is the lack of publicity. The poor, small studios have no money to promote their movies because only the remakes like Rocky are profitable. So for these studios there is just one way to show themselves: the web. Promote on sites like this or like amazon.com, they have to do anything for the success. And finally, the fourth reason: people usually do not interested in the ideas and themes of the modern documentaries. And this is the fault of filmmakers. But there is light in the end of the tunnel: just think about the success of An Inconvenient Truth. It got an Oscar and millions went to cinema to see it. And this is the main goal for people like me.
